There was no Halloween in my childhood, but instead the streets of my home-town Sofia became fluttered with the small carriages of the sellers of roasted pumpkins. My grandma used to send me with her biggest tray to buy some. Then she generously scattered honey, walnuts and cinnamon over it… Yuuum!
Now I feel a bit confused with so many different varieties…A brief search showed that the best roasting varieties are the Butter Squash and Queensland Blue Pumpkin, but why not experiment also with the other varieties?
We are preparing our large shopping trolley to head to the nearest Farmers market and to hunt for all different colourful members of the Pumpkin family – some will end in the oven, some will be turned into beautiful lanterns and decorations.
